San Lorenzo, the Martyred Deacon Venerated in Comano Terme

The Church of San Lorenzo in Comano Terme is dedicated to the famous Roman deacon martyred in 258 AD, one of the most venerated saints in all Christendom. The cult of Saint Lawrence is extremely widespread throughout Trentino, where numerous churches bear his name, testifying to the influence of the Roman Church in these Alpine valleys.

The sacred building, with its Trentino-Lombard architectural tradition, forms part of the rich religious heritage of the Giudicarie. The Comano Terme area holds a mosaic of churches and chapels telling the story of faith in these valleys, from the evangelisation by Saint Vigilius to the great Renaissance fresco cycles.
