Description
Lago Nero is an alpine lake near Madonna di Campiglio, at approximately 1550 meters above sea level, nestled among the peaks of the Brenta Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2009. Its crystal-clear waters, ranging from turquoise to emerald depending on the light, reflect the surrounding peaks creating landscapes of extraordinary beauty.
Of glacial origin, the lake was formed thousands of years ago by retreating glaciers. The surrounding Adamello Brenta Nature Park protects one of the most important ecosystems in the Italian Alps, including rare alpine flora such as gentians, rhododendrons and edelweiss. A must-visit destination for hikers exploring Val Rendena.
